Unconscious Bias Masterclass

Insurance Ireland in conjunction with The Centre for Insurance Risk and Data Analytics Studies (CIRDA) at Institute of Technology Carlow is a joint initiative of Lifelong Learning at Institute of Technology Carlow, Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) and the InsurTech Network Centre (INC) are offering a fully funded online Masterclass on Unconscious Bias in Insurance (both in the workplace and in practice).

This two-hour masterclass will also examine best Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) practice in general and provide some practical tools and approaches which can be used to promote and embed it in organisations. Referencing the IT Carlow Athena Swan award and ongoing work in this area with some tangible examples on how IT Carlow implemented the EDI initiatives will also be provided.

This masterclass is fully funded by The Centre of Insurance Risk and Data Analytics Studies (CIRDAS), and open to all Insurance Ireland member companies.

 

Biographical details

 

Dr. Allison Kenneally is Head of Department of Social Care and Early Childhood studies at Waterford Institute of Technology, Allison previously held posts as Director of Office of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Head of Department of Humanities and Senior Lecturer in Law at the Institute of Technology Carlow. Allison holds a Doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Bath. Her research focuses on Mergers, Change Management and System Reconfiguration in Higher Education, with a focus on the Irish Institute of Technology sector. She is the author of the widely used textbook, ‘An Introduction to the Irish Legal System’.
