Race & Ethnicity Masterclass in partnership with IT Carlow 2021

When: 28th September, 2021

Time: 12.00pm – 1.00pm

Where: Online

Overview

Insurance Ireland in conjunction with The Centre for Insurance Risk and Data Analytics Studies (CIRDAS) at Institute of Technology Carlow & Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) and the InsurTech Network Centre (INC) are offering a fully funded online Masterclass on Race & Ethnicity in Insurance (both in the workplace and in practice).

This circa one-hour masterclass will also examine best Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) practice in general and provide some practical tools and approaches which can be used to promote and embed it in organisations.

This masterclass is fully funded by The Centre of Insurance Risk and Data Analytics Studies (CIRDAS) who are a dedicated education partner for the insurance sector providing subsidised and fully funded education solutions. The masterclass is free to attend and is open to all Insurance Ireland member companies.

The contemporary workplace can be a minefield of political correctness, appropriate language and behavioural dilemmas. This masterclass is open to everyone but will be especially useful for management staff, as it aims to promote understanding of issues surrounding race, ethnicity, and multiculturalism in Ireland. As issues of race, ethnicity and inclusion can often be contentious in the workplace, this class examines ways to promote individual, collective, and systemic change to address racism and encourage intercultural understanding. As an open and welcoming workshop, we encourage attendees to contribute to discussion and debate on all aspects of race and ethnicity. This will be a safe space for attendees to address any concerns they might have when talking about race and ethnicity, and the fear of “saying the wrong thing”.
