Insurance Ireland Fraud Webinar Series November 2020

 

We are delighted to announce that Insurance Ireland will run a Fraud Webinar Series throughout the month of November. This is a virtual version of our highly acclaimed Annual Fraud Conference. These webinars will cover a few key themes relating to Fraud: Cyber Fraud/AI, Life & International Insurance Fraud, The Legal & Forensic Aspect of Fraud in an insured Environment and Health Insurance Fraud.

Fraud Webinar 1 – In partnership with our Strategic Alliance Partner PwC – Wednesday, 4th November at 11.00am until 12.00pm

The Theme for our first webinar is on ‘Cyber Fraud/AI’. The webinar will discuss the latest cyber threats being experienced in a Covid19 virtual environment and the impact on the Insurance sector. PwC will provide insights from their Irish Economic Crime Survey. We will hear from Detective Chief Superintendent Pat Lordan on his experience on the ground and how Cyber Fraud & Fraud are growing in Ireland and worldwide. This webinar will also touch on AI in Ireland and the next generation of security operations used to combat fraud.

Fraud Webinar 2 – in partnership with our Strategic Alliance Partner Deloitte – Monday, 9th November at 11.00am until 12.00pm 

The theme for our second Fraud Webinar is on ‘Life & International Insurance Fraud’. This webinar will take a look a worldwide view of life and international insurance fraud projects from the perspective of Deloitte’s Global Forensic Team, highlighting the fraud red flags for Insurance Ireland members to be aware of, and the use of analytics to highlight red flags in your data. As well as looking at how public private partnership as a model can overcome data privacy concerns.

Fraud Webinar 3 – in partnership with our Associate Members Arthur Cox & Grant Thornton – Wednesday, 18th November at 11.00am until 12.00pm 

The theme for our third Fraud webinar is ‘The Legal and Forensic Aspect of Fraud – in an Insured Environment’. Andy Harbison and Pearse Ryan will provide a high-level introduction to the “business” of fraud, with relevance to insurance and insurers. They will discuss both fraud by clients, and fraud against clients as well as preventing Fraud – How to protect both the Insurer and the client.

Fraud Webinar 4 – Health Insurance Fraud -Wednesday, 25th November at 11.00am until 12.00pm

The theme for our fourth Fraud webinar is ‘Health Insurance Fraud’. Dr Peter Wilmshurst has investigated research misconduct for more than 30 years. Peter will describe illustrative examples of dishonesty in medical research, clinical practice and billing by doctors that results in harm to patients, waste of health care resources and financial fraud. He will also describe how poor regulatory control has resulted in a culture of impunity. This webinar will also feature a panel discussion & Q&A with Health Insurance Members to discuss Health Insurance Fraud in Ireland – the challenges and lessons learned.
