As part of our in-camera discussion, Kevin Thompson of Insurance Ireland will give an overview of the main talent challenges faced by the industry with Deloitte’s Human Capital Management team presenting the details of their recent survey findings.
Deloitte’s 2014 Talent in Insurance Survey surveyed 174,000 business students from 2,000 universities asking them about their intentions, aspirations and associations in relation to insurance careers. The findings show that:
•Insurance is not a popular career choice with only 1.4% of students describing it as their ideal career choice
•Insurance is less popular in Ireland – it is the 5th lowest among the 17 EMEA markets surveyed and the 2nd lowest in Western Europe
With talent scarce and on-going competition from the likes of the likes of the software and FMCG sectors, we hope that this informal discussion will allow us to debate constructive ways the industry can overcome these challenges and focus on how we could position Ireland as talent hub for insurance companies.
