This session will provide a regulatory update focusing on:
1. Sustainability reporting obligations, with focus on the recently published European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).
2. EC Proposal for Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the potential practical implications for insurance sector firms.
3. Legislative and regulatory developments for the insurance sector relating to greenwashing, focussed on EIOPA’s greenwashing progress report (and the Green Claims proposal).
Speakers
Sinead Lynch, Partner, A&L Goodbody
Sinead Lynch is a partner in A&L Goodbody’s Corporate practice, specialising in Insurance and Reinsurance. Her experience covers a wide range of aspects of insurance and reinsurance law and regulation. These include the set up and authorisation of insurers, reinsurers and insurance intermediaries, ongoing regulation, provision of cross border services. Sinead also advises on the full spectrum of advisory and transactional matters, which include the sale/purchase/transfer of insurance companies/businesses and restructurings. She has been involved in a large number of domestic and cross-border portfolio transfers. Sinead is a member of the firm’s ESG & Sustainability Steering Group and advises on a wide range of ESG and sustainability-related topics. Sinead was named in the global list ‘IFLR1000 Women Leaders 2022.
Jill Shaw, ESG & Sustainability Lead, A&L Goodbody
As ESG & Sustainability Lead, Jill supports A&L Goodbody’s clients and practice groups on ESG and sustainability matters. Jill is a senior lawyer with over 10 years’ experience in financial services, particularly in asset management and investment funds. In addition she has also worked as a senior knowledge lawyer with a focus on compliance with the various European sustainability initiatives applicable to the asset management sector. In recent years Jill has been recognised by the international legal publication, IFLR 1000 as a “rising star”.
