Overview

A week ago, the European Commission published the Savings & Investment Account (SIA) Recommendation. Insurance Ireland is delighted to host an in-person event exploring its implementation and the essential recognition of the insurance sector as key providers.

We will be joined by John Berrigan Director-General at DG FISMA, along with industry leaders to discuss the SIA and other upcoming Savings and Investments Union initiatives. We hope that you can join us and contribute to a conversation that highlights Ireland’s role as a European and global hub for (re)insurance.

Keynote Speakers

John Berrigan, Director-General DG FISMA

John Berrigan is the Director-General of DG FISMA at the European Commission. He has held this position since 2020, after serving as Deputy Director-General for five years.

In this role, John Berrigan represents the European Commission on the Economic and Financial Committee and the Financial Service Committee working with the EU Finance Ministers on key financial policy issues.

Bryan O’Connor, CEO AIB Life

Bryan O’Connor is the CEO and Executive Director of AIB life, a joint venture between AIB and Great-West Life Group. With a career spanning over three decades, Bryan has had the opportunity to work across a wide range of financial sectors – including life, general, and health insurance, private banking, retail banking, finance and leasing, and corporate development.

Bryan is driven by a passion for financial wellness and inclusion and sees a real opportunity to modernise and democratise the financial planning, savings and investments landscapes, helping Irish people along their path to financial security, one step at a time. He is a qualified actuary, a qualified investment advisor, holding a master’s degree in change management, and is a certified bank director.
