Wednesday, 5th November, 2014.  Following a meeting today between the Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, T.D., and the Insurance Ireland Health Council, Insurance Ireland, the representative body for the insurance sector, welcomed the engagement with the Minister and the discussion on some of the key issues currently impacting on the sector.

Kevin Thompson, Chief Executive, Insurance Ireland, said, “We had good engagement with Minister Varadkar this morning and we welcome this as first step to further engagement on the important issues that are effecting the health insurance market currently.  We are reviewing the measures in the Health Amendment Bill from the recent Budget.  Insurance Ireland looks forward to working with Minister Varadkar in a collaborative manager with the objective of broadening insurance cover within the health sector.”
