Insurance Ireland Hosts Annual Industry Lunch

June 162022.  Insurance Ireland held its Annual Industry Lunch today in the Intercontinental Hotel in Dublin. The event focused on the current and future challenges for the economy and society and the role Insurance Ireland can play in addressing these challenges.

In his opening remarks Insurance Ireland President, Donal Clancy, underlined the commitment of the industry to find solutions, particularly highlighting the value which the insurance sector can add to the sustainable transition saying that “the long-term nature of the insurance industry makes us an ideal partner for future-oriented projects and insurers can support clients in the prevention and reduction of risk in new sustainability focused activities and technologies.” Donal Clancy also urged industry leaders to increase efforts on diversity, equity and inclusion.

In his address at the event, Gabriel Makhlouf, Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland, emphasised the strategic importance of cooperation between the CBI and the insurance sector, saying “We have a shared interest in a strong, stable sector. I look forward to productive, open engagement in the future.”

Insurance Ireland also presented its new strategy for the 2022-2026 period. “The major crises of our time and the changing risk landscape which our members and their clients face requires us to refocus our activity to support political and regulatory processes to the benefit of the industry, businesses and consumers”, Insurance Ireland CEO, Moyagh Murdock said. “Ireland is a major hub for financial services and we need to make sure that our members can compete strongly at all levels for the benefit of consumers, businesses and society.”
