Regulatory Round-Up 2017: the year in review: a breakfast briefing (Insurance Ireland / Arthur Cox)

In collaboration with Arthur Cox, we are hosting this breakfast briefing which will cover regulatory developments which an Irish insurer/reinsurer/intermediary should be aware occurred in 2017.

FORMAT: a 11/2 hours breakfast briefing including Q&A.

SCHEDULE: Registration and light breakfast refreshments: 07:15 am to 07:45am

The session will open with an overview of significant regulatory developments during the year, covering both the domestic and EU environments. Thereafter, the following is a list of topics will be highlighted and reviewed in relation to their significance and impact on the industry.

SPEAKER BIOS

ELIZABETH BOTHWELLElizabeth Bothwell

Elizabeth is Head of Arthur Cox’s Insurance Group and advises both domestic and international clients in the insurance sector on a wide range of non contentious insurance and reinsurance transactions and regulatory matters. Her practice includes advising clients on establishment and authorisation, M&A transactions, portfolio transfers, court sanctioned amalgamations and transfers, joint ventures, contractual matters, outsourcing, reinsurance arrangements, reorganisations and distribution arrangements. Elizabeth has extensive experience in providing prudential and regulatory advice including corporate governance, regulatory capital, conduct of business, cross border activities, product development and regulatory enforcement. Elizabeth is ranked as a Leading Individual for Insurance in the Legal 500: EMEA 2015 and is recommended in Who’s Who Legal under the Insurance and Reinsurance section.

JENNIFER MCCARTHYJennifer McCarthy

Jennifer is a partner in Arthur Cox’s Insurance Group. Jennifer advises both domestic and international clients on all aspects of insurance law and regulation. Jennifer’s practice includes advising on the establishment of an Irish carrier; on-going prudential requirements and the provision of insurance on a cross-border basis. Jennifer has advised extensively on portfolio transfers (both life and non-life), cross-border mergers, court-sanctioned amalgamations, transfers of insurance/reinsurance business and notifiable acquisitions/disposals in Irish insurers. Jennifer also advises on distribution arrangements (including white labelling distribution), outsourcing in the insurance sector and reinsurance / retrocession arrangements. She also has extensive experience advising on administration/liquidation processes for Irish insurers and access to statutory compensation schemes. Jennifer joined Arthur Cox in 2012 having previously worked in the specialist insurance practice of another large Irish corporate law firm for over six years. She is the Irish contributing author to two leading textbooks on cross-border mergers in Europe and has presented on a range of insurance topics over the last number of years. Jennifer is endorsed in both the Legal 500 and Chambers Guides for Insurance.
