Insurance Ireland’s – Milliman CRO Fora 4

November 25, 2015 @ 12:00 am

The next Insurance Ireland – Milliman CRO Forum will take place on November 25th, 2015, Spencer Hotel, IFSC, Dublin 1.

The Agenda is as follows:-

Registration is at 7.30am (with refreshments)

The Forum will run from 8.00am to 10.30am sharp (with a coffee break at 9am). Please feel free to join the Forum at the 9am break if that time is more suitable for you.

The topics for this session are as follows:

Ø Solvency II Pillar I issues – A round table discussion, including a break-out session, covering the Pillar I items where there are still questions or debate

Ø Embedding Risk Management – A round table discussion debating how to ensure that risk management is a live consideration for individual business units

Ø Any Other Business – Open forum to discuss your questions

There are a number of Pillar I issues where there is considerable debate and scope for different treatment. These can arise in relation to calculation of technical provisions, valuation of assets, calculation of capital requirements or classification of own fund items. The CRO needs to be aware of the significant issues in relation to Pillar I and what position the Company has taken in relation to these issues. This session is intended to give CROs the opportunity to discuss such issues, to understand what issues are creating debate and to understand other companies’ thoughts on these issues.

The second item is intended to give CROs the opportunity to discuss how to make risk management a key consideration for business units within the organisation and how to ensure that the CRO has sufficient influence. Siobhan Fay, CRO with Liberty Insurance, will outline some of her thoughts on these issues. Following Siobhan’s introduction we will facilitate a round table discussion on the issues in order to understand how different companies attempt to embed risk management and capital considerations within their business units and what structures they put in place to support the role of the CRO.

As usual, we intend to leave some time to discuss topics that any of the CROs present may wish to raise and discuss. This is intended to ensure that CROs have the opportunity to raise developing issues where some quick feedback from peers would be welcomed.  We would invite CROs to submit topics in advance of the meeting.  However, please feel free to simply raise them on the day of the meeting itself.

The CRO Forum is designed to be a high-level discussion group exclusively formed and attended by Chief Risk Officers of Insurance Ireland Member and Associate Member companies. The purpose of the series is to engender debate and discussion, facilitating peer learning, network building and the sharing of experience and knowledge in this community.

The nature of future events falling under this series will be informed by your inputs and feedback, to ensure the series continually delivers value to the network it is designed to engage.

To register please email me Ann O Leary at ann.oleary@insuranceireland.eu before Friday, 13th November 2015.

Please Note – The venue will be The Spencer Hotel in the IFSC.
