Insurance Ireland and Milliman look forward to welcoming you to our first CRO Forum of 2025.
We are pleased to announce that Dan O’Brien, Chief Economist at the Institute of International and European Affairs and Ireland’s leading foreign affairs think tank will join us on Tuesday 8 April to provide us with insights into the economic outlook for 2025 given the changing political landscape. We will also be joined by Aisling Barrett, Principal & Consultant, Milliman and Sinead Clarke, Principal, Milliman to discuss what this means for insurers along with an overview of the Solvency II review.

Dan O’Brien, Chief Economist
Dan O’Brien is a chief economist at the Institute of International and European Affairs, Ireland’s leading foreign affairs think tank, a weekly columnist with the Business Post newspaper and adjunct research fellow at the Geary Institute for Public Policy in University College Dublin.
He has spent the longest part of his career to date as senior economist at the European Intelligence Unit, an arm of The Economist Newspaper Group. Working from London and Geneva over a dozen years, he prepared economic forecasts for the European Union and its member states and analysed policy and politics across the continent.
Other organisation for which he has worked include the European Commission, the United Nations and Forfas, an Irish Government policy unit. In media roles, he has been economics editor of the Irish Times and a weekly colummist with Independent Newspapers.
Aisling Barrett, Principal & Consultling Actuary, Milliman
Aisling is a principal and consulting actuary in Milliman’s Dublin office. Aisling leads the actuarial reporting team giving actuarial support to a range of life, health, non-life and reinsurance clients.
Aisling is significantly experienced carrying out the role of the Head of Actuarial Function in addition to supporting the Reviewing Actuary and Risk Management Function for insurance companies in Ireland. Aisling is an active member of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland and has participated on several working parties. She is currently a co-chair of the SAI Life HoAF Forum and a member of the cross-border life insurance committee.
Sinead Clarke, Principal, Milliman
Sinead is a principal in Milliman’s Dublin office. She currently leads the Risk and Capital Management team in Milliman Dublin. Sinead has over 15 years’ experience working with a wide variety of clients, including life, health and non-life insurers.
She is an experty on the Solvency II requirements fo the risk and actuarial functions and has supported clients on various risk and capital management project in recent years. She discharges the outsourced Head of Actuarial Function role for an International Private Medical Insurer based in Dublin. She is an active member of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland and currently sits on the Society’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Healthcare Committee.
