Insurance Ireland & Deloitte Ireland are delighted to be hosting an International Women’s Day event on the 7th of March in Deloitte Ireland offices. 

We are pleased to announce that we will be joined by Moyagh Murdock, Chief Executive Officer, Insurance Ireland; Sean McGrath, Chief Executive Officer, Allianz Ireland; Julie Sinnamon, Co-Chair, Balance for Better Business; Dr. Ebun Joseph, Diversity & Race Relations Consultant and Gavin Hennessy, Senior Diversity and Inclusion Manager, AXA Ireland on the day. The panel will be moderated by Valarie Daunt, the lead Partner of Human Capital Management at Deloitte Ireland.

Keynote Speaker 

Julie Sinnamon, Co-Chair, Balance for Better Business 

 

Julie Sinnamon has held a number of senior public sector positions spanning a 30 year career in Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland. 

Prior to her retirement from Enterprise Ireland in May 2021 she held the role of Chief Executive Officer since 2013. 

She currently has a number of non-executive roles including Chair of European Movement Ireland, Director of The Agricultural Trust, Social Entrepreneurs Ireland and The Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition. She is also on the Investment Committee of the Irish Strategic Investment Fund and a member of the Climate Change Advisory Council.

  

Guest Panelists 

Moyagh Murdock, Chief Executive Officer, Insurance Ireland 

 

Moyagh Murdock is the Chief Executive Officer of Insurance Ireland having taken over the role from Interim CEO Gerry Hassett in April 2020. Previously she was the CEO of the Road Safety Authority, a position she has held since February 2014. 

Prior to taking up the CEO role in the RSA, she was Chief Operating Officer for Bus Éireann after having first joined the company in 2007 as the Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer with responsibility for the fleet maintenance and garage operations. 

Originally from Newry, Co. Down, Moyagh graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering. She also holds an MBA from Dublin City University and a Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Transport Operations Management.

 

Sean McGrath, Chief Executive Officer, Allianz Ireland 

 

Sean McGrath is CEO of Allianz Ireland where he leads a team of more than 700 employees providing high-quality insurance products for over 700,000 people. 

During his 35 years at Allianz Ireland, the past seven of those as CEO, Sean has spearheaded transformation, navigated the firm through seismic changes in the insurance market and driven significant growth and profitability to turn Allianz into one of the leading Irish P&C insurers.

Sean has also championed a number of important societal initiatives at Allianz including its continuing sponsorship of GAA, establishing a new partnership with Women’s Aid and championing the creation of insurance apprenticeships to support talent development.

Prior to joining Allianz, Sean spent 5 years in New Ireland Assurance.  Sean qualified as an actuary in 1992 and was President of the Insurance Institute of Ireland in 2020.

 

 Dr Ebun Joseph, Diversity and Race relations consultant

 

Dr Ebun Joseph is a Diversity and Race relations consultant, Module Coordinator and Lecturer, Black Studies at University College Dublin (UCD), Director Institute of Antiracism and Black Studies (IABS), and founder & Chairperson, African Scholars Association Ireland, AFSAI (2018-2022). 

Dr Joseph held the position of Career Development Consultant at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2017-2021), and was a Teaching Fellow at Trinity College Dublin, Training and Employment Officer EPIC (2007 -2017). Ebun is an author, TV panellist, Columnist and an equality activist. With a research focus on Labour markets and race relations, she has presented at several conferences, businesses and nonprofits. 

Ebun is published and contributes regular responses on contemporary issues of race and racism in Ireland. Dr Joseph’s 2020 article won the IRJ Prize awarded to the paper adjudicated to represent the best original contribution to the journal in a given year.

  

Gavin Hennessy, Senior Diversity and Inclusion Manager, AXA Ireland 

 

Gavin is D&I Lead at AXA Ireland, having previously held D&I roles at Irish Life, LinkedIn, and Business in the Community Ireland. Over his career he has established ground-breaking programmes to reduce barriers to employment for family carers, hard to reach youth, persons with disabilities, and refugees. 

He is an active and respected contributor to the wider corporate D&I landscape sitting on industry working groups such as the Insurance Ireland D&I Taskforce and the IBEC D&I forum. 

As a member of the LGBTQ+ and Irish Traveller communities, he regularly contributes to discussions on driving inclusion forward for minority groups. In his spare time, he is a dedicated community advocate and supporter in his roles as Chairperson of the National LGBT Federation, Gay Community New (GCN) and Co-founder of the Traveller Graduate Network. Gavin’s passion lies in driving meaningful, lasting change in the workplace and wider society.

 

Panel Moderator 

Valarie Daunt, Lead Partner of Human Capital Management, Deloitte 

 

Valarie is the lead Partner of Human Capital Management in Deloitte. She is an experienced talent management, organisation transformation and people development advisor and specialises in advising clients on their HR and Talent strategies, including Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. 

She draws on a career in the profession of over 20 years including in Industry as a HR Director in the Financial Services and as a HC consultant across a range of industries.
