Overview
As part of the Insurance Ireland INED Council’s ongoing work to support the industry’s INED community, we are partnered with EisnerAmper Ireland to deliver a series of Insurance Ireland’s INED Forums focusing on INEDs and their role in an ever-changing environment.
Our first INED Forum of 2022 will focus on the impact of ESG. Carina Myles, Partner, Governance, Risk & Compliance, EisnerAmper Ireland will set the scene regarding ESG: why is it so topical, what can firms do regarding the implementation of same and how to take an auditable approach on ESG. Brian O’Kennedy, CEO, Clearstream Solutions will then discuss how to bring ESG to life within organisations and outline how ClearStream Solutions are supporting EisnerAmper in developing its ESG framework.
Frank Keane, Partner & Head of Client Internationalisation, EisnerAmper Ireland will MC a panel discussion, including our guest speakers, Sylvia Cronin, INED and members from Insurance Irelands sustainability working group Stephen Rice, Pensions & Investment Propositions Lead, Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland DAC and Sandra Rockett, Director – Wealth & Corporate Distribution, Irish Life Investment Managers. They will explore the topic of ESG from an INED’s perspective and look at the risk impact of ESG to business and company strategy.

Carina Myles, Partner, Governance, Risk & Compliance, EisnerAmper Ireland
As a Partner in our Governance, Risk & Compliance Group, Carina advises financial services providers on risk, regulatory and compliance-related matters. Carina supports clients throughout the regulatory engagement lifecycle and specialises in the design and implementation of risk and sustainability compliance frameworks. Carina provides outsourced solutions to operationalise risk and compliance functions thereby providing both insight and bandwidth to PCF role holders.
Brian O’Kennedy, CEO, Clearstream Solutions
Brian O’Kennedy is CEO of Clearstream Solutions. Prior to setting up Clearstream, Brian spent almost 20 years in global supply chain management in the areas of IT, Media, Print & Packaging. Clearstream Solutions, the company Brian founded in 2009, is a leading Irish based independent Carbon, ESG and Sustainability consultancy. Providing advisory services, tools and training, Clearstream’s expert team supports its clients to measure, report and improve their sustainability performance and that of their businesses, products and supply chains. Clearstream Solutions is the executive admin behind the global CDP Climate Change reporting project in Ireland, a community partner of the GRI global reporting initiative, and an approved Enterprise Ireland Green Service Provider.
Sylvia Cronin, Independent Non-Executive Director
Sylvia Cronin is an Independent Non-Executive Director on a number of Financial Services company boards including FBD Insurance, Mercer (MGIE) , Mediolanum (MIL) and Canada Life Europe. Sylvia was Director of Insurance Supervision in the Central Bank of Ireland until October 2019 and was a Member of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (“EIOPA”) Board of Supervisors. Before joining the Central Bank, Sylvia spent the majority of her career working in the insurance industry, most recently as Chief Executive of Augura Life Ireland Ltd. Previously, Sylvia was the Chief Executive of MGM International Assurance Ltd. and spent several years with the AXA Group where she was head of Business Development, Services and Marketing in Ireland. Sylvia started her insurance career with the Fortis Group where her focus was on IT Management.
Stephen Rice, Pensions & Investment Propositions Lead, Aviva Life & Pensions Ireland DAC
Stephen joined the Aviva Life and Pensions team in 2018 and has responsibility for developing the individual and corporate investments, pensions and funds propositions and supporting sales and growth of fund-based product lines. He has over 20 years’ experience in the industry, having previously held senior positions with Cantor Fitzgerald and BCP in both technical and product development roles.
Sandra Rockett, Director – Wealth & Corporate Distribution, Irish Life Investment Managers
Sandra is a member of the Executive Management team. Since October 2018, she holds overall responsibility for ILIM’s Wealth and Defined Contribution Corporate Channels. She is also responsible for ILIM’s ESG policy and strategy development as well as responsibility for the Client Services Teams. Prior to taking on this position, Sandra held responsibility for ILIM’s International Business and Strategic Partnerships.
