Insurance Ireland – Deloitte Talent in Insurance Breakfast

The second annual Talent in Insurance breakfast briefing jointly hosted by Insurance Ireland and Deloitte. This year’s event is scheduled to launch the findings of Deloitte’s 2015 survey, Putting the nectar in the sector – Making insurance careers more attractive. In line with last year’s report the survey continues to explore the aspirations, goals, and motivations of business students considering careers in insurance.

As part of our in-camera discussion, Kevin Thompson of Insurance Ireland will give an overview of the talent challenges faced by the industry with Deloitte’s Human Capital Management team presenting the details of the 2015 survey findings.

We are also delighted to have representatives from Bank of Ireland who will discuss their graduate experience and talk about their perspective on some of the more pressing talent challenges and opportunities faced by the financial services sector with the onset of significant disruption in the sector.

The Deloitte Talent in Insurance survey 2015 surveyed 211,000 business students from more than 2,000 universities and institutes of higher education in 30 markets asking them about their intentions, aspirations and expectations in relation to insurance careers. The findings show that:

•Despite the strength of appeal of Banking for Irish graduates, Insurance remains an unpopular career choice in Ireland – it’s popularity continues to be the fifth lowest of the 21 EMEA countries surveyed

•Insurance continues to face the strongest competition from the technology giants in the software and computer services sector and increasingly, from Irish firms like Paddy Power

We hope that this informal discussion will continue to allow us to debate constructive ways the industry can overcome these challenges and focus on how we could position Ireland as talent hub for insurance companies.
