II Annual Industry Lunch 2015

The II Annual Industry Lunch allows Insurance Ireland to showcase the work it undertakes on behalf of the industry both domestically and internationally – looking back on achievements in the prior year and forward on the road map for delivery against strategic objectives for the industry.

This event is now well established as the key diary date for the industry to gather and network, with over 350 senior industry stakeholders in attendance in 2014 and a larger gathering anticipated for 2015 as we lead into our hosting of the Insurance Europe (“IE”) General Assembly and Conference in 2016. The IE Conference is the largest European flagship conference for the Insurance Industry with an anticipated attendance of c800 delegates from around the globe descending on Dublin in May 2016.

The guest of honour for last year’s annual lunch was the Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, TD. Our report ‘Creating the Future for Insurance in Ireland’ was launched. The report commissioned by II and conducted by PWC was the culmination of a six month period of independent and rigorous assessment of the industry carried out by PWC through engagement with a broad range of national and international stakeholders across the Insurance Industry and related sectors. Recommendations from this report have since been incorporated into our overall strategy.

This year, the II Annual Industry Lunch will take place on Monday, 27th April 2015 at Double Tree by Hilton on Burlington Road. The Guest of Honour for this year’s lunch is Simon Harris TD, Minister of State at the Department of Finance. Minister Harris has special responsibility for the OPW, public procurement, and the IFS.

On March 11th Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Tanaiste Joan Burton and Minister of State at the Department of Finance Simon Harris launched ‘IFS2020 – a new strategy for Ireland’s International Financial Services Sector.’  The launched followed months of consultation and more than 100 submissions from industry and the public sector. The Strategy represents a new action-orientated approach to growing and developing the international financial services of which the Insurance sector is a key part. The strategy sets a clear vision for the IFS sector for the next five years to ultimately create 10,000 new jobs.

At the II Annual Industry Lunch 2015, we will review our progress against our own report ‘Creating the Future of Insurance in Ireland’ and explore how we as an industry will contribute to the growth outlined in both our report and Minister Harris’s proposed strategy.
