Communications, Advocacy and Public Affairs Executive (fixed – term)


As part of the Advocacy, Public Affairs and Communications team of Insurance Ireland, you will support the management and implementation of the communications, advocacy and public affairs plan of Insurance Ireland contributing to its overall objectives.

Location: Brussels or Dublin

About Insurance Ireland

On behalf of its members, Insurance Ireland works with institutions, governments, regulators and policymakers in Ireland, the EU and globally to create and maintain an effective insurance market for businesses and consumers and represents the Irish insurance market in the general public. 

 

The Role

As part of the Advocacy, Public Affairs and Communications team of Insurance Ireland, you will support the management and implementation of the communications, advocacy and public affairs plan of Insurance Ireland contributing to its overall objectives.  

You will support the team to ensure delivery of effective communications to Insurance Ireland members and stakeholders. This includes member newsletters, publications, social media and the website.

As part of its communications strategy, Insurance Ireland also runs several consumer awareness campaigns throughout the year alongside a consumer website. As part of this role, you will assist in the set up of these campaigns and website content.

You will also be responsible for monitoring and gathering intelligence on political and regulatory developments relevant for the insurance sector and work closely with colleagues across the organisation. You will facilitate to an effective cooperation and coordination with internal and external stakeholders and contribute to developing and leveraging working relationships with members, institutions, political and public stakeholders.  

In this role, you will be exposed to a fast-paced and changing work environment and gain experience in the challenging and competitive environment of insurance in a trade body of a leading insurance market in Europe.  

 

Tasks

Contribute to the management and implementation of Insurance Ireland’s Communication Strategy by:

  • Supporting the creation of and review of newsletters, webpage articles, social media and other publication
  • Supporting the creation and review of content for Insurance Ireland’s consumer information hub understandinginsurance.ie and its campaigns.

 

Contribute to the management and Implementation of Insurance Ireland’s Advocacy and Public Affairs Plan by:

  • Monitoring and gathering intelligence on political and regulatory developments of relevant to the insurance industry
  • Support the analysis developments on a range of domestic, European and global initiatives 
  • Support regular reporting internally and to members
  • Providing support for the development of the association’s positions, implementing lobbying strategies and contributing to the implementation of lobbying activities

 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience 

Minimum Requirements 

·        University level education, preferably in an area related to communications, law, economics or marketing.

·        Strong interest in political and regulatory developments and a desire to learn about the insurance industry. 

·        Interest in communications and placing the insurance industry in the public debate. 

·        Able to work independently and in team and intellectually curious. 

·        Proactive, organised and self-motivated to manage workload and meet agreed deadlines. 

·        Very good analytical skills and proven ability to synthesise feedback. 

·        Creative thinking with a curious, inquisitive nature. 

·        Excellent written and spoken English. 

·        Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels. 

·        An outgoing and dynamic personality.   

 

Desirable 

·        Experience in working with EU or domestic institutions or the financial services sector. 

·        Experience in working in Communications, PR or Media.

·        Understanding of the value add a trade body brings, inputting ideas for process and value improvements.
