Pensions ImageDate: Friday 17th May, 08.30am -12.45pm

Venue: Conrad Hotel, Dublin 2.

The Government-commissioned OECD report, published on April 22nd, recommends a universal pension system for workers currently without a pension. To address the questions this raises you are invited to attend an Irish Insurance Federation Conference: Is Ireland Really Ready for Universal Pensions?

In particular the conference will consider:  What changes to public policy are necessary so that citizens can afford to save for their own retirement in the certainty that their savings are safe both from excessive costs and future financial repression? Over what time period could such a scheme be introduced without causing economic disruption? Is the life insurance industry ready to play a role in providing the solution?

Key Speakers and topics include:

The Irish Government Perspective

Ms Joan Burton, TD, Minister for Social Protection

The OECD Report – The Main Conclusions, Stéphanie Payet, Private Pensions Analyst, OECD

How to implement a Universal Pension System, Hon. Nick Sherry, former Australian Minister for Superannuation and Corporate Law
