Michael is the Non-Life Insurance Manager at Insurance Ireland. Michael’s role involves representing members’ interests to multiple stakeholders, including Government, the Central Bank of Ireland, public representatives, the media and at European level. Prior to joining Insurance Ireland Michael held a variety of managerial roles at Royal Insurance in the UK over a nine year period.
John is CIP qualified and also MAAT (member of the Association of Accounting Technicians). He started in the industry 36 years ago with Sun Alliance where he worked for a few months. When he left, he studied MAAT, but realised fhisuture lay in Insurance and joined Royal Insurance. Those two companies are now RSA and ultimately owned by Intact. He initially worked on the property side of claims covering Motor, Household, Commercial and Marine Claims. After that he moved into the Injury and Liability as a handler and then a Team Manager. Finally moving into the SIU arena in 2017. Having spent the previous number of years across all facets of claims, SIU is undoubtedly the most interesting and rewarding.
Jonathan the owner of JDA Key forensics Ltd, a company that examines vehicle keys supplied by the insurance and law enforcement agencies supplied from the UK and abroad in an effort to detect and reduce fraud, based on the physical and electronic data obtained following key examinations. Jonathan is a member of the international Association of Auto Theft Investigators, and an affiliate member of The Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators. Jonathan is passionate about leading in the key examination industry, pushing forward both the data and the technology acquisition methods to ensure maximum data acquisition for the best possible results, leading him to often be called on as an expert witness in court, giving evidence in relation to key data and vehicle security.
Stephen is an accomplished operations director with over 10 years extensive experience within management and tactical business leadership positions with a proven history of improving quality, cost and delivery timescales in both the commercial and charity sectors. Known for maintaining an uncompromising focus on high quality standards and ensuring the best possible outcomes to maximise a company’s potential. Stephen has worked at JDA key forensics for last 12 months under the tutorage of Jonathan Ashworth to learn the technical aspects of the key forensics industry and to achieve the optimal results for JDA with competent planning, organisation and solutions orientated approach while driving business growth, profitability and strategic alliances.
Martin Duffy is a Director in PwC’s Data and Analytics Advisory practice, he is also the lead for AI Solutions for PwC Ireland. Martin has over 30 years experience in developing AI solutions, helping organisations adopt AI and particularly in the governance of AI. He has worked with many insurance companies in maturing their analytics capabilities and was previously the technical lead of SAS Institute’s EMEA Fraud Centre of Excellence where he worked with insurance organisations in combating financial crimes. Martin is a fellow of the Analytics Institute.
Shauna Colgan, CL, LL.M., BL, The Law Society of Ireland
Shauna Colgan BCL, LL.M., BL is a practising barrister with a mixed civil practice. She tutors at The Law Society of Ireland and has lectured at Griffith College where she was also a Programme Director. Shauna is widely published and her book on Contract Law (Round Hall, 2024) will be available in Autumn 2024.
Tom Magee, Managing Director, MBT Supply Solutions Ltd
Tom Magee is Managing Director of MBT Supply Solutions Ltd, a company which has been providing Claim Validation Services in Ireland for the past 20 years. Tom has worked with Insurers in Ireland in the areas of Forensic Data Recovery, Financial Analysis, and Repair Logistics will be speaking today regarding the recovery of residual value through Salvage.ie, and the potential SIU opportunities that the salvage process can offer to Insurers. Tom has assisted and alerted Insurers in many fraud related salvage cases, and will go through some detailed examples during the seminar.
