Insurance Ireland joins the Global Federation of Insurance Associations

Insurance Ireland has become a member of Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA).

GFIA is active in commenting on a broad range of issues affecting the international insurance industry, including developments in the systemic risk debate; the work of the International Network of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) in developing ComFrame (the common framework for the supervision of international groups); market conduct and trade issues; and initiatives in relation to financial inclusion and anti-money laundering.

“As well as representing 95% of the domestic market, Insurance Ireland now represents 70% of Ireland’s international life insurance market so we see our involvement with GFIA as integral to our service offering to International members. Through active participation on GFIA’s committees Insurance Ireland will be in a strong position to support initiatives that are key issues of concern for the global insurance industry”, said Kevin Thompson, CEO, Insurance Ireland.
