Aidan Flynn appointed Director of Advocacy and Public Affairs


 

Aidan Flynn has been appointed as our new Director of Advocacy and Public Affairs at Insurance Ireland.

Moyagh Murdock, CEO, Insurance Ireland says, “I’m delighted that Aidan has been appointed Director of Advocacy and Public Affairs. Aidan brings over 14 years of leadership experience from his time at Freight Transport Association Ireland (FTA Ireland), where he was instrumental in shaping policy, championing industry standards, and giving voice to key transport and logistics issues at national and EU levels. His strategic insight, deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, and proven ability to engage stakeholders will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for a sustainable, competitive, and customer-focused insurance sector”.

Aidan Flynn is the Director of Advocacy and Public Affairs at Insurance Ireland, where he leads the organisation’s engagement with policymakers, regulators, and stakeholders at both national and EU levels. With a strong track record in lobbying and public affairs, Aidan brings deep insight and strategic acumen to the role, championing policies that support a competitive, sustainable, and resilient insurance sector.

Prior to joining Insurance Ireland, Aidan served as Chief Executive of the Freight Transport Association Ireland (FTAI). He joined the organisation during its formative years in Ireland in 2011 and played a pivotal role in its development and influence within the Irish and European transport landscape. Over more than a decade, Aidan established himself as a leading voice for the freight and logistics sector, advocating on issues such as cost competitiveness, skills development, regulatory reform, and sustainability.

Collaboration has been a cornerstone of Aidan’s professional ethos. He is widely recognised for his ability to build consensus across industry, government, and academia. He has led numerous initiatives that reflect this commitment, including the creation of two sector-specific apprenticeship programmes: the Logistics Associate Apprenticeship and the Transport Operations and Commercial Driving Apprenticeship. These initiatives have become key pillars in promoting skills development and lifelong learning within the transport and logistics sector.

Aidan’s work is informed by a deep understanding of the shared challenges facing many industries—from rising operational costs and global competition for talent to the increasing demands of environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance. His approach consistently focuses on driving practical solutions that balance the needs of business and society.

With over a decade of leadership experience in advocacy and policy, Aidan Flynn continues to make a significant impact through his strategic vision, collaborative approach, and unwavering commitment to industry advancement.
